GRANGEVILLE -- The view is now even more beautiful from Trinity Episcopal Church. And soon that beauty will be seen from the outside as well.
A 4-by-8 stained glass window has been installed in the right dormer area of the church, facing the street. The artwork is a memorial to church member Barbara Metcalf Hansen who died suddenly earlier this year at the age of 85.
"It is a beautiful piece of work and a nice tribute to Barbara," said her husband, Joe Hansen, who lives kitty-corner from the church.
Hansen said he and parishioners saw the opportunity for the work and began researching.
"A man, Dennis Lippert, was found in Missoula who has a business of log cabins and stained glass," Hansen explained. "He does beautiful work -- as is evidenced by what he put together for the church."
A plan for better exterior lighting is in the works and then the glass will be better viewed from outside.
"I look forward to looking across the street and seeing that," Hansen smiled.
The window was placed in a dormer by the roof where several years back church members had decided to put in a pane of glass to allow more light in the church.
"We were just able to improve upon that and not just have the light but add the beauty," Hansen said.
On Oct. 8 a private memorial for Barbara will be held in the church where family and friends will have the opportunity to get together and view the stained glass pane.
